Acid Jazz Definition
80 to 126 BPM. Acid Jazz is classifed as having a fusion of jazz and funk influences with hip hop rhythms. It has elements of soul, disco, hip hop, funk and sometimes big band.
Some would say Acid Jazz orginated in Britain during the early 1980s; however, its roots can be traced as far back as the 1950s. By the early 1990s, it was more than likely brought to North America and the rest of the world by a group called US3 (Blue Note Records).
